The Event Business School 1.0 by Planners Hack – a 6-week business strategy and accountability group for event planners – had 17 event planners in the program, Susana of Suzziebakes being one of them.
Introducing savvy baker/planner Susan, the heart and soul behind Suzzie bakes. Who recently completed her 6 weeks program in Event Business School. Her journey through the program was a symphony of unwavering passion and a deep love for the art of baking.
In today’s feature, we warmly invite you to the Susan’s incredible experience one that earned her the well deserved title of the 3rd best student in the Event Business School 1.0, her highs and lows most importantly things that she wished she knew before joining the program.

“Joining EBS is the best decision I’ve ever made for my business”
Q: Hello! Can we meet you ?
A: Hello I am Susana of Suzziebakes and I have been in business for two years, 6 months.
Q: Describe the woman that came into EBS and the woman stepping out.
A: The woman that came into EBS was a good person who wants to make celebrations sweet (with delicious cakes of course), however, was struggling with the business side of her life.
The woman after EBS is amazing! You should meet her. I have noticed that even my Instagram page has felt the difference! Hahaa!
Before EBS, posting on social media was just to keep pictures and get bragging right that I had an Instagram page. That’s all, I never knew social media could be so functional! It is wonderful! I have learnt a lot! I can not quantify.
With all the hacks I have learnt in Event planning and the whole marketing side of business is great. If for nothing, I have learned not to be mediocre when putting my business out there and branding it in the best possible way I can. I am the one you can confidently order your cakes from and soon, hire to plan your amazing events.
Q: What are the things you have been procrastinating but being in EBS has helped you take action?
A: Before EBS, I had always wanted to get all social media pages lively and engaging. At a point, I had plans to get someone to manage it for me. But EBS did not only teach me hacks that pertained to only online engagement but also personal branding to fit my business branding.
Q: How has been in EBS made you a better planner to prospective clients?
A: As I said, even though the class is on event planning, all the hacks and lessons gained can be easily applied to all businesses especially if you want your business to thrive.
My new customers will be getting the best! I have all the hacks and lessons now. My new customers now have an organized baker who knows what to present to you to make your selection, purchase and acquisition of the product you want easy.
You will receive a professional engagement and know what you are getting before you get it. By the time I am done engaging with you, you would have not only ordered the best pastries and cake you could ever get, you would also gain.
Q: Why was it important for you to join EBS?
A: Honestly, I am the person that joined EBS not knowing what to expect but hey! It is the best decision I have ever made concerning my business. I had always had the dream to venture into event planning for one day, I didn’t know how.
So for me, joining EBS was like killing two birds with one stone. I got to learn a lot I could use for my current business and also had knowledge that has been kept in my pocket to use when I eventually start my event planning career which will be soon.
I have learnt more than I expect. I came into this class thinking I would just slide through and may not even get what I wanted to know about business. Haha I was in for a treat.
My dear, expect professionalism, accuracy, great mentorship and a lot more! even counseling, be prepared to be fired up! In the end, there was no sliding through oo.
It is a class you simply can’t go through, you will be a changed person trust me. Your business will change and everyone around you will definitely notice.
Q: While working on the lead magnet what were your major highlights?
A: I couldn’t complete my lead magnet before the due date but once I started working on it, I realized that even working on it, it gave me fresh new ideas to incorporate into my business.
It gave me ideas for my carousels and posts and I realized it’s like some sort of mini books for clients and potentials that benefits both the reader and the writer.
My final product is lovely. At first doing it was a whole different process I hadn’t experienced before but once I started and got knew what to write about, it was great.

Q: We had an assignment of writing 750 words daily. How did this help you?
A: It was lovely! It’s one of the best things I loved about this class. I am naturally a talker but this gave me an opportunity to put out all that were scattered (for lack of a better word) in my mind.
It gave me time to reflect about my incoming day, of how the day went, what I wanted to do and change about my business and all it’s always good to write down the present for the future. I did love this task so much.
Q: What difference have you noticed from optimizing your page?
A: Oh! I love my new page! I have invited countless people to go have a view because I feel enough people have not seen it. It is one thing I have not stopped bragging about since I optimized it. It is no longer boring and you can not pass by it without having a look.
Q: Of all the templates shared, which have you found to be a DIAMOND?
A: All of the templates were golden but I loved the templates for testimonials, templates for price list and the templates for the lead magnet. It made the work easier and gave me a clear focus instead of going back and forth about what to do and how to arrange everything.
“I must say that I love and was amazed at how well planned everything was. I kept telling my friends and anyone who cared to listen that this class is serious oo.
“I have never had a business online class this serious. EBS was too good, honestly. I am so thankful!”
Q: What key things did you learn from the marketing module
A: The marketing module taught me to put my business out there in a way that will not be easily forgotten. Marketing is the foundation of a good business (that’s what I think). How to market is one of the key things I learnt.
Not only online but also physically and sometimes letting your product do the talking. I also learned from the online perspective that sometimes free is not always free but a way to draw to draw clients in. Example is giving free tips to let clients know that you know what you’re talking about and doing.
One thing I implemented is the boosting of my online presence. Social media is a space that can give a lot back once you handle it well. I learnt that the EBS way and I have not regretted it.
Q: How do you think we can improve or do better with EBS especially for the next sets?
A: I think EBS is perfect. I wouldn’t say let’s take out something but maybe the work load. Even though it helped us to be on our toes, it needs students who are willing and focused else a lot may drop out before getting to the desired destination.
One secret I want to share is that honestly, I didn’t know this was the first cohort. Everything was so organized and so on point. The process, the registration, the first class. If coach had not said it, I would never had known. Everything was well planned I was amazed.

Q: Any final words?
Coach D, You are a selfless person. I like your personality. Calm and firm. Focus and lovely! I want to be like you when I grow up.. hahaha. You are simply amazing! May you be blessed in all your endeavors.
